The UN climate talks in Durban are now truly underway and the actions of some countries in recent days have been deeply disturbing.
Like vampires, these countries are sucking the life out of the Kyoto Protocol - the only international law that requires countries to take action to cut their carbon emissions.
A group of campaigners from Christian Aid and the Stop Climate Chaos Coalition visited embassies in the UK today to protest against some of the biggest blockers of Kyoto - Japan, Russia, Canada and the European Union. We also decided to take a few vampires with us to help make the point!
Kyoto Protocol
Kyoto isn't just an international treaty, it's a matter of basic justice. After all, climate change is hitting the poor first and worst, with people across Asia, Africa and Latin America already suffering from floods, droughts and unpredictable weather.
Rich countries have a moral and historical responsibility to limit their carbon emissions and secure a better future for the world's poor.
Destroying the Kyoto Protocol now, as scientific evidence mounts about the dangerous future facing us all, would be a deadly mistake.
