Margaret Boden, chief executive

Margaret has been chief executive of Christian Aid Ireland since 1998. She was Northern Ireland coordinator and Republic of Ireland coordinator with Christian Aid prior to 1998. A one-time associate lecturer with the Open University in International Studies, she was also previously a fundraising officer for British Epilepsy, a social worker in Coleraine and company director in a family business.

Nazma Kabir, head of programme development

Nazma worked in the development sector for 20 years before joining Christian Aid in February 2011. She worked in developing countries including Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Pakistan, supporting long term development programmes. Nazma oversees the programme development unit in Christian Aid Ireland and is responsible for managing Irish Aid funded programmes in Africa, the Middle East and Latin America. She has a PhD in Medical Nutrition from Karolinska Institute, Sweden.

Deborah Doherty, church and community manager

Deborah worked for the church for 13 years before joining Christian Aid full time in 1999. She had previously been involved in fundraising for Christian Aid following time spent in Kenya during her gap year.

Adrian Horsman, communications & media manager

Adrian was a broadcast journalist for 25 years before joining Christian Aid Ireland in 2005. In between travelling around Africa, he was BBC Northern Ireland’s Dublin correspondent and later TV3 Ireland’s Belfast correspondent.

Gillian Laney, head of finance

Gillian worked for Deloitte and the National Health Service prior to joining Christian Aid Ireland in 2007. She leads on both financial and business systems matters.
