Rosamond Bennett, Chief Executive

Rosamond Bennett Rosamond Bennett Rosamond was appointed Chief Executive of Christian Aid Ireland in 2012.

Prior to this she worked in the corporate sector for more than 20 years, including the position of Head of Communications at the Northern Bank and as Head of Marketing for both Northern Bank and National Irish Bank with all Ireland responsibility.

Rosamond is also an elder in Whitehead Presbyterian Church, County Antrim.


Deborah Doherty, Head of Church Partnerships

Deborah Doherty Deborah worked for the church for 13 years before joining Christian Aid full time in 1999. She had previously been involved in fundraising for Christian Aid following time spent in Kenya during her gap year.

Sarah O'Boyle, Head of Programme Development

Sarah O'Boyle Sarah worked in the development sector for over 10 years before joining Christian Aid in June 2013. She worked in developing countries including Cambodia, Sudan, Congo (DRC), Sierra Leone and Liberia, on both long term development and humanitarian programmes.

Sarah oversees programme development and is also responsible for managing Irish Aid funded programmes in Africa, the Middle East and Latin America.

Karol Balfe, Head of Tackling Violence Building Peace

Bishop Trevor Williams and Margaret Boden Karol worked in the human rights and development sector for 8 years before joining Christian Aid Ireland in 2012.

Previously Karol managed a programme related to economic, social and cultural rights with Amnesty International Ireland and ran campaigns on human rights issues such as gender based violence, the death penalty and human rights in Israel and the occupied Palestinian territory.

Karol is responsible for overseeing our work on tackling violence and building peace.

Sorley McCaughey, Head of Advocacy and Policy

Sorley McCaughey Sorley is responsible for Christian Aid’s policy and advocacy work, particularly our work around tax justice, climate justice and Israel and the Occupied Palestinian territories.

Before joining Christian Aid he worked with the United Nations Development Programme(UNDP). He has worked mainly on issues of good governance and anti-corruption in the Middle East and various African countries.
