Strangford Sportive Cycle

300 cyclists from all across the island of Ireland took part in the Strangford Sportive 2016.

Strangford Sportive

Thank you to each and every cyclist who took part in this year's sportive. You have helped to raise over £9,000 (and still counting) towards Christian Aid's work in some of the world's poorest communities.

Special thanks to our event sponsors - Podium 4 Sport who provided a support vehicle and The Good Little Company who refreshed the cyclists on return to the park with a Good Little BBQ.

Thank you also to both the NWCAS, the PSNI and motorcyclists from NIMEG, who were in attendance to keep everyone safe.

We are extremely grateful to the volunteers who willingly helped to marshal, register participants, assist with refreshments, run the barbecue, lent their premises - and many other unseen tasks!

A particular mention must go to our committee, without whom the event could not happen. A heartfelt 'thank you' from us to you all.

Finally, thank you to Victoria McMurray (VCW Photo and Film) who was able to come along to take photographs of the event. The images have captured the day wonderfully.

An example of one Christian Aid project that you have supported is the Rural Transport Network in Kenya, where motorbike ambulances are being used to save lives every day.  Volunteer community health workers travel to deliver mosquito nets, vital healthcare advice and medicines for people living with HIV. They also ensure expecting and new mothers have everything they need for the best start for their baby.

Watch a film about the difference the Rural Transport Network is making.

Poverty Over

Poverty is an outrage against humanity. It robs people of dignity, justice, freedom and hope. Christian Aid has a vision: an end to poverty. We believe this vision can become a reality. You support has helped raise much needed funds for our overseas work.
