£1 for food and drink for 5 days for Christian Aid
Join thousands of people across the UK this May (7-11) Living Below the Line for Christian Aid to raise money and awareness of the 1.4 billion people who live below the poverty line everyday.
In 2011, ten thousand people worldwide took the Live below the Line challenge raising over £1million and finding out more about what it’s like for the 1.4 billion people who have to live on £1 everyday for everything.
This year you could help make an even bigger impact by Living Below the Line and getting your friends, family and colleagues to join you.
How much change can you make for £1?

The money you raise through sponsorship will help people in communities like Mo-Albert, Sierra Leone to help themselves out of poverty.
People like Mahinteh Kohn (left) and Sugoa Beier (right), who, with their husbands are part of a fishing group set up by Christian Aid partner the Methodist Church of Sierra Leone (MCSL). Along with other women from the village, they have been trained in the use of a new fish-smoking oven provided by MCSL which will add value to the fish caught by the men.
Before the fishing group was established, hunger was a constant threat for Mahinteh, Sugoa and their families. Most households in Mo-Albert could barely afford one square meal a day.
Now, with a large new motorised boat, catches are bigger so members of the fishing group can feed their families and have enough to sell. ‘What I like about the project’ explains Mahinteh, ‘is it involves women, particularly in the sale of fish which will increase our income and give us the opportunity to contribute to running our homes’.
