Remembering the lives and inspirations of others

Every two years we hold a Service of Thanksgiving to give thanks for the lives and support of people who have left a legacy for our work, and for those in whose memory gifts have been given in the previous few years.

These services allow us to come together with relatives and friends to remember and celebrate the lives and faithfulness of people much loved and honoured by their families and communities.

We remember people who not only touched the lives of those closest to them, but whose passion for justice had a much wider impact, bringing renewed hope and opportunity to poor communities across the world.

Our most recent Service of Thanksgiving was held on 4 November 2014, where the address was given by the Chair of Christian Aid, Dr Rowan Williams.

Our service was also streamed live online to allow those across the UK and beyond to join us in our remembrance.

An excerpt of the 2014 service can be seen above.

You can also watch the service in full.

For those who would like to watch Dr Williams' sermon, we have also included this video.

  • 'The service was a lovely way to remember my wonderful, irreplaceable Mum, whom I still miss so much, and it was so good to hear about all the excellent work that Christian Aid is doing around the world.'
Sheila Wilson, who gave to Christian Aid in memory of her mum
