1 Corinthians 6, 9-11

Something to read

Do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived! Fornicators, idolaters, adulterers, male prostitutes, sodomites, thieves, the greedy, drunkards, revilers, robbers - none of these will inherit the kingdom of God. And this is what some of you used to be. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.

Something to think about

God loves us just the way we are but He is not finished with us yet.

In establishing His Kingdom, he wants us to be agents of change – bringing faith, hope and love to a broken world. In order that we can more fully achieve this, God longs to transform us, to 'sanctify' us, so that our thoughts, our actions and our prayers reflect the King we serve.

If we are truly Kingdom people, then we are being shaped by the King to become more like Jesus.

It is very easy to dwell on our past – on who we were and what we once did before we were 'washed' and cleaned up by Jesus. Some habits die hard. Sometimes we dwell on our failings. Sometimes we remain trapped in negative patterns of behaviour.

In order to keep perspective, remembering our new identity and the life that we are called to live, we must encounter Jesus afresh. It is 'by the Spirit' that we learn how to live authentically in this new Kingdom, as God convicts and as God guides.

How are you being transformed today? How much space have you given God to speak into your life? How are you becoming an agent of change for the King and His Kingdom?

Something to do

Spend some time being quiet before God in reflection, asking Him to reveal to you what it means to be an agent of change for the Kingdom of God.

Something to pray

Father God, I thank you that I am an agent of change for Your Kingdom. As I pray Your Kingdom come, help me to become a Kingdom advocate, speaking and living your ways. I am sorry for the times that I fail to let you change me to become more like you, empower me by Your Spirit today! Amen.
