Footprints - journey through Lent with Christian Aid's daily reflections

This Lent season Christian Aid Ireland is launching a new daily email reflection series called Footprints. Participants will receive a daily email, which will consist of a prayer and short reflection based on one of the Bible readings from the Revised Common Lectionary for each day during Lent and Holy Week from Ash Wednesday (6 March) through to Easter Sunday (21 April).

Why sign up

As recipients of the daily emails journey through Lent together with Christian Aid, you'll be inspired through the daily Scripture readings to act justly, love mercy and walk humbly with God. You will also be encouraged to consider the footprint you leave on the world, both in terms of the legacy we leave behind us and the impact of our lifestyle on people and planet.

The authors

The reflections will be written by an exciting line up of Christian leaders, theologians, academics, thinkers and practitioners from Ireland, Brazil, Kenya, Sierra Leone and South Africa. Some of the confirmed authors include; All Ireland President of Mothers’ Union, June Butler MBE; former Methodist President, Rev. Dr. Laurence Graham; Minister of Tullamore and Mountmellick Presbyterian, Rev. William Hayes; and Chaplain at University College Dublin, Scott Evans.

There will also be contributions from Christian Aid’s international staff and partners who will be writing some of the reflections including Graham Philpott the director of Church Land Programme. Church Land Programme is a partner of Christian Aid and is supported by the Methodist Church in Ireland. They work alongside those who are excluded from land rights and justice in South Africa.

The reflection for International Women’s Day (8th March) will be written by Rev Elineide Ferreira de Oliveira who runs Casa de Noeli, a safe house for female survivors of gender-based violence in Ariquemes, Brazil. Casa de Noeli was one of the Christian Aid partners supported by the recent Presbyterian World Development Appeal.

David Thomas Church and Community Manager at Christian Aid Ireland head shot

For many Christians, Lent is an opportunity to simplify, to reflect and to refocus on Jesus as we prepare for Easter. This year, I’m excited to take time each day to read the daily Footprints Lent Reflections and am praying that God will use these to redirect my footsteps in line with him. I hope that you will join me
