There are 1.2 million children who have been orphaned by HIV/AIDS in Kenya, and 160,000 children under the age of 15 are infected with HIV. In Kenya, Precedo Healthcare is sponsoring Christian Aid to support children affected by HIV/AIDS.
Less than half of children living with HIV/AIDS have access to antiretroviral therapy. Our programme will help to ensure children affected by HIV/AIDS get access to healthcare and treatments. It will also support families to grow their income so their children have a better level of care.
Precedo Healthcare has also sponsored two community partnership projects supporting women and girls in Ethiopia and Honduras.
Our partners are working to improve women and girls' wellbeing through better access to reproductive health services and information, so they can make informed family planning choices. Our projects aim to:
- increase women's knowledge of, and access to, contraception
- improve child and maternal health
- boost the economic prospects of the whole community.
Supporting women to get an education, such as learning basic maths and literacy skills, means they are more employable, can manage their finances and can have a voice in their community.
