The righteous man walks in his integrity; his children are blessed after him.”

- Proverbs 20:7   .

So many fathers and father-figures have helped to shape Christian Aid’s work through their prayers, donations, and collecting. For 80 years these men have brought hope, justice and opportunity to communities facing poverty and crisis. We are grateful for each one of them.

When you lose someone dear to you, finding ways to honor their memory can help to bring comfort.

One such way is making a gift to charity in your loved one's memory. This keeps their values alive and helps others in need.

If you are remembering someone special this Father’s Day, please feel welcome to visit our special online tributes page In Loving Memory on Father's Day. In this space, you can make a customized memorial for your loved one, share a memory or perhaps the best advice you received from them alongside a photograph. If you feel moved to, you can also leave a donation to support the work of Christian Aid.

Remember and give thanks this Father's Day

On this special day, we remember the fathers and exceptional men who are no longer with us, but who have had a positive influence in our lives.

All over the world fathers and father figures in communities where we work are playing a transformative and leading role in securing safe, healthy and fulfilling live for their families.

Hassan is a husband, father of two and was a primary school teacher in Darfur, with hopes to complete his PhD until the war broke out. It was in June 2023, when he uprooted his young family, fleeing their home in Darfur when it became to dangerous to remain. Hassan, his pregnant wife Zahra (a lawyer) and their young son made the long and difficult journey to the Wedweil Refugee Settlement in South Sudan. His wife Zahra delivered a second baby boy, Farhad in a field hospital in January 2024.

When they arrived in the settlement, Hassan and his family received emergency cash assistance from Christian Aid, distributed through our partner organisation Smile Again Africa Development Organisation (SAADO). Since their arrival in the camp, Hassan has taken an active role in volunteering with SAADO, as part of the community committee supporting the aid workers, using his experience as a teacher to support young people in the camp.

This Father’s Day, we celebrate fathers like Hassan, who even in the face of displacement and uncertainty, turn hardship into hope  – guiding not only their own children, but those of a community, with the heart and compassion of a teacher and love and strength of a father.

Give thanks this Father's Day
