Strength

Strength.

Something to read

On the day I called, you answered me, you increased my strength of soul.

- Psalm 138:3.

Something to think about

David's worship in God’s house flowed from his understanding of how God was involved in his everyday life. David calls and God answers.

There were times in David’s experience that he felt totally surrounded by struggles. Yet this Psalm gives voice to convictions of faith that can sustain the writer and us, even through those times when we might feel abandoned by God. God will send us sufficient strength for whatever situation or season we are in.

We need to set aside our pride and call on God for help. God's strength will come to us.

Something to do

Meditate on this verse. Think about how God has strengthened you to cope with adversity and helped you to negotiate crises.

Something to pray

Faithful God thank you for who you are and how you have invested so much into developing us as your greatly loved children. Help us not to forget all the special ways you intervene. May we be reminded afresh to appreciate your unfailing love, your faithful promises, your timely encouragement and infusion of grace just when we most need it.

Amen.
