The Christian Aid Children and Youth team has created resources to support children in reflecting upon the war in Ukraine.

Children, like many of us, will be feeling concerned for the people affected by the war and anxious. Our resources provide sensitive reflections and activities to help children explore and express their feelings in classroom settings and in assemblies. Some are more appropriate for use in faith schools; others (at the bottom of the page) are suitable for use in all schools.

If you are wanting to talk to children about war well then we highly recommend this resource produced by Barnardos, Pobal, and the Irish Governmental Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration, and Youth.

We wanted to offer some additional guidance from a faith perspective, for anyone looking to talk to children about faith and war. We won’t repeat what is in the resource above but try to provide some reflections and reassurances to help children explore the issue through the lens of faith. These perspectives could be explored in RE lessons.
